Bangladeshi officials will meet with US officials on Saturday to get as much information as they can about accused Federal Reserve bomber Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis who hails from the South Asian country.

"This is a sensitive issue," Foreign Minister Dipu Moni told reporters in Nasif's hometown of Dhaka today. "We don't want to speculate on it."

Moni also said that Bangladeshi security agents had questioned Nafis' family.

"Bangladesh intelligence visited the residence of Nafis in Dhaka on Thursday night and interrogated his parents and closest relatives to find out details of his life pattern in Bangladesh," she said.

"The relevant government agencies of Bangladesh have been inquiring about Nafis's activities in Bangladesh, whether he had any link with any terrorist activities and activists," she said.

The authorities would do all they could to help Nafis if they concluded he was not guilty, the minister added.

Nafis, a bus boy who studied at a college in Missouri before transferring to ASA College in Manhattan, was busted Wednesday by federal agents after he allegedly tried to set off explosives in a van by calling a cellphone detonator from the nearby Millenium Hilton hotel.

Nasif's arrest has stunned students who knew him as well as the 21-year-old's family who live in a suburb of Dhaka.

"I spent all my savings to send him to America," said Nafis' dad, Quazi Ahsanullah.

A weeping Ahsanullah, who talked to Nafis over Skype a few hours before his arrest, said his son could not have been involved in the attack.

"He is very gentle and devoted to his studies," the father told The Associated Press from his home in a Dhaka suburb.

But Jim Dow, a classmate of Nafis' at Southeast Missouri State, said Nafis also spoke admiringly of Osama bin Laden.

"He told me he didn't really believe bin Laden was involved in the twin towers because he said bin Laden was a religious man, and a religious man wouldn't have done something like that," Dow said.
