NJ gas prices down, but national average up

TRENTON, NJ — Motorists are seeing lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of regular gasoline in New Jersey on Friday was $3.78, down 3 cents from last week. But that's still much higher than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.31.

Meanwhile, the national average price rose by 2 cents to $3.81. That's also much higher than the national average from a year ago, which was $3.41.

Analysts say gas prices should continue to fall in New Jersey in the coming weeks as demand decreases. But they warn that rising Mideast tensions could potentially cause crude oil supply disruptions, which could mean higher prices at the pump.
