ALBANY — Federal prosecutors say seven U.S. Postal Service employees have admitted making false statements to get unemployment benefits they were not entitled to.
Authorities say they lied about their eligibility by falsely claiming to be unemployed or under-reporting their income, fraudulently obtaining benefits.
Each has been ordered to pay restitution.
Prosecutors say the workers and restitution amounts include 37-year-old Erin Gagnon of Plattsburgh, $26,218; 36-year-old Kelly Williams of Nyack, $16,605 and 46-year-old Clarence Reed of Schenectady, $11,255.
Others are 35-year-old Angela Blazejewski of Rocky Point, $11,542; 30-year-old Donnel Richardson of Brooklyn, $9,007; 31-year-old John Congiusti of the Bronx, $8,896; and 41-year-old Nicole Martin of Brooklyn, $5,396.
