A Chinese man who worked for NASA was arrested by the FBI right before he got on a flight from Washington D.C. to Beijing in March because the feds suspected he was a spy, but all they found on his laptop was illegal porn.
Bo Jiang, 31, plead to a misdemeanor charge of violating NASA computer rules yesterday after he illegally downloaded copyrighted pornographic films and images onto his NASA laptop, according to Businessweek.
As part of his plea deal Jiang must now leave the US in the next 48 hours.
Things could have been so much worse for Jiang, who was fired in January for taking his NASA issued laptop on a vacation to China.
Normally that wouldn't have been a problem, but Jiang was one of the 281 foreign nationals employed by NASA who were designated as security threats.
This designation meant that when he took the vacation to China with his NASA laptop and external hard drive, he violated the agency's security regulations for which he was fired on January 11.
Later the FBI opened an investigation into Jiango for possibly violating the Arms Control Export Act.
Luckily for Jiang, he was arrested without having anything illegal in his possession, other than the porn.
