Police are hunting a second suspect in the robbery of a Chinatown jewelry store, two days after an off-duty cop nabbed the gunman, authorities said.
The photo, released Thursday, was pulled from surveillance video investigators found nearby which shows the accomplice acting as a lookout during the jewel heist.
Detective Patrick Lee, 41, was near Canal Diamonds in Chinatown at around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday when he heard someone scream "Robbery! Robbery!" in Cantonese, according to police.
The 14-year veteran, who just finished work at the precinct a block away, ran into the store, which is at Canal and Elizabeth streets just a half block from the Fifth Precinct station, and saw Eduardo Olmedo, 25, with a .40-caliber Glock in one hand and 18 gold chains in the other, authorities said.
The quick-thinking cop drew his gun and identified himself as a cop before ordering Olmedo to drop his weapon and get down on the ground, police said.
Olmedo was arrested and charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held in jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond, according to the city's department of corrections.
The alleged accomplice was wearing a light-colored suit and a blue button-down dress shirt.
