An elderly man is fighting for his life after he was allegedly thrown onto a subway roadbed by a drunken homeless man in Harlem, cops said.
The victim was standing on the platform on W. 125 St. and St. Nicolas around 4:30 p.m. with his wife as they waited for the northbound D train when the suspect allegedly pushed him to the tracks, cops said.
Good Samaritans jumped onto the tracks, lifting the man to safety before emergency responders arrived, cops said. The wife of the victim, who does not speak English well, kept repeating the words "Push!, Push!" as she pointed to the homeless drunk– but told investigators she hadn't witnessed the shove, sources told the Post.
Police are asking for more witnesses to step forward to help determine whether or not the elderly man was the victim of a crime.
The 72 year-old victim suffered a fractured skull and and broken collar bone from his near-fatal plunge.
He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital where he remains in critical condition, cops said. The alleged suspect is in police custody but charges were pending while police continue the investigation.
