Richie Incognito admits: I used racist language

Written By Unknown on Minggu, 10 November 2013 | 23.16

In his first interview since being suspended last week, Richie Incognito admitted to spewing racially charged words at Dolphins teammate Jonathan Martin — but insisted he's no bully.

"This isn't an issue about bullying … this is an issue of my and Jon's relationship," Incognito told "Fox NFL Sunday."

"You can ask anybody in the Miami Dolphins locker room, `Who had Jon Martin's back the absolute most?' and they will undoubtedly tell you me."

Martin left the team nearly two weeks ago and has alleged to be the victim of relentless harassment by his fellow offensive lineman Incognito, who has a history of violence.

In a brief portion of the interview released Sunday morning by Fox, Incognito didn't deny using salty language with Martin.

Incognito was apologetic for uttering "bad words," but said offensive  racial talk is commonplace in NFL locker rooms.

"All this stuff coming out …  it speaks to the culture of our locker room, it speaks to the culture of our closeness, it speaks to the culture of our  brotherhood," Incognito said.

"And the racism, the bad words, you know that's what I regret most. But that is a product of our environment and that's something we use all the time."
