A man was killed and several stores were destroyed after an early morning fire swept through a building in the heart of Mattituck.

The 51-year-old victim has not yet been identified.

It took firefighters nearly two hours to douse the flames, which began just before midnight at 12800 Main Road, authorities said.

At least one other person was injured.
