CNN removed correspondent Diana Magnay from the Middle East Friday after she covered a rocket attack on Gaza and referred to one group of Israelis as "scum" for allegedly threatening to destroy her car while cheering the missle fire.
Magnay wrote the angry tweet Thursday, shortly after she appeared on the air with Wolf Blitzer and reported on the rocket strike from a hill overlooking the Israel-Gaza border.
"Israelis on hill above Sderot cheer as bombs land #gaza; threaten to `destroy our car if I say a word wrong.' Scum," she wrote.
Her tweet was later removed — but the damage was done.
A CNN spokeswoman said Magnay has been reassigned to Moscow.
"After being threatened and harassed before and during a lives hot, Diana reacted angrily on Twitter," a CNN spokeswoman said in a statement to Huffington Post.
"She deeply regrets the language used, which was aimed directly at those who had been targeting our crew. She certainly meant no offense to anyone beyond the group, and she and CNN apologize for any offense that may have been taken."
On the air, Magnay called the rocket fire "an astonishing, macabre and awful thing."
