Carmelo Anthony still hasn't decided where to sign, but if he listens to Kevin Durant, there's upside to staying in New York and working under new coach Derek Fisher.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Durant offered Anthony a strong endorsement of Fisher during a workout in Los Angeles.
Fisher and Durant were been teammates with the Thunder for parts of the past three season, and this isn't the first time that Durant has praised the new Knicks coach. Durant spoke strongly of Fisher's coaching credentials before Phil Jackson tabbed Fisher to replace Mike Woodson.
"Without a doubt. He's a smart guy, smart mind," Durant told The Post's Marc Berman. "He's a great motivator, great speaker and can really relate to a lot of guys and demands that respect from everybody. He's a great locker-room guy. I'm sure he'll do a great job.''
Durant was also effusive in his praise of Fisher during his memorable MVP acceptance speech.
"I could see 'Fish,' just a button-up [player] like a mayor, like a president, he just demands so much from his teammates," Durant said. "He's played with so many great players but still respects everybody. He's 38 years old and he has nothing else to prove. And I say, 'Fish, you want to come get some shots up with me?' And the first thing he says is yes. He always wants to learn. Even though he's done so much in this league, played with so many great players he always wants to learn. And that motivated me to know that there's never a point where you can stop getting better, and he's the one that made me realize that."
