A gunman carjacked two vehicles in Brooklyn, hit a 75-year-old pedestrian and smashed into several parked cars before trying to flee from cops by blending in with a crowd that gathered near his last accident, police said.
After nabbing Lawson, cops found this .25 caliber handgun nearby.
Clinton Lawson's wild ride began Saturday evening when he walked up to a 2010 Toyota Corolla on Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue in Crown Heights, pulled a gun and ordered a 64-year-old man and his 58-year-old passenger out of the car, cops said.
The unlicensed stick-up man drove to Kingston Avenue near St. John's Place, where he struck an elderly man and then smashed into a parked 2014 Mercedes Benz around 5:25 p.m., according to police. The 22-year-old owner of the Benz got out and confronted the suspect, who then fired at man and missed, cops added.
Police called to the scene of the accident and EMS rushed the elderly pedestrian to Kings County Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
In the meantime, the gun-wielding car-jacker fled on foot to Sterling Place and Brooklyn Avenue where he pulled his gun again and ordered a 27-year-old driver out of a black 2003 Nissan Xterra and a 27-year-old woman out of that car, cops said.
Lawson sped off and hit two more parked cars near Sterling and Rogers avenues, where the Nissan was totaled, according to police.
The suspect then ran behind a home before going inside, where the owner yelled at him to "get out," cops said. He then darted out to the front of the building where he tried to blend in with a crowd that had gathered but witnesses pointed him out, police added.
Lawson, 30, who lives in Queens, was finally cuffed and investigators found a .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun nearby. He was charged with robbery, assault with intent to cause serious injury, burglary, reckless endangerment, weapon possession, driving without a license and leaving the scene of an accident.
