Amazon looks to India to test drone deliveries

Amazon is looking farther afield to test drone-powered deliveries.

The Seattle-based retailer will try dropping packages on people's doorsteps first in India because of a ban on commercial flying drones in the US, according to a new report.

Amazon will test its Prime Air delivery drone service in Mumbia and Bangalore, where customers would get top-selling products like books and mobile phones in as little as 90 minutes, The Economic Times reported.

The service might start in October, according to the paper, citing unnamed sources. Amazon told the Times that it does "not comment on what we may or may not do in the future."

India doesn't have any rules regarding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles. The US, on the other hand, has banned their commercial use of drones since 2007.
