Shaq Evans turned a foregone conclusion into a reality: The Jets rookie wide receiver announced he was having season-ending shoulder surgery.

Evans tweeted Tuesday morning: "Going under the knife today. Praying for a speedy recovery! #prayforme #minorsetbackforamajorcomeback"

The fourth-round pick from UCLA got hurt in the first week of training camp in Cortland. Rex Ryan previously said he expected Evans to end up on season-ending injured reserve.
