Stream All About Eve

Powered by GoWatchIt

We spent the last month recommending plenty of great shows and movies to stream online, but what have the members of the Decider enjoyed in the last week? We'd like to share that with you, too — and tell you where to stream them, of course.

Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy

One of the things that I miss about the DVD experience is the extra features. Once you start streaming, there's obviously no going back, but that doesn't mean that I don't lament the loss of the making-of docs, the director commentaries, and the other bonus features that once made DVDs so addictive (if inconvenient to watch and expensive to collect). I think that's what I love most about Never Sleep Again, the 238 minute (!!!) "documentary" about the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Over the course of the last month or so, I have been watching this collection of interviews with those responsible for the Freddy Krueger legacy in fits and spurts, all the while learning a tremendous amount about a series that I previously knew very little about. It's equal parts fascinating and funny. [GoWatchIt] —Mark Graham

All About Eve

This week I streamed the Bette Davis classic All About Eve on Netflix. I've always loved this movie for its complex plot of fame and deceit. Even though it was made in 1950, it portrays the complications of trust, treachery, and friendship in a subtle yet impactful way that's truly juicy and devastating, even by today's standards. A while back, my colleague Olivia Armstrong added it to a list of movies safe to stream with your grandparents. This particular one is special to me in that regard, because my own grandmother introduced it to me as a kid, which began my love affair with classic films. Watching and discussing these vintage movies — or "pictures" as she called them — was our special thing, something the two of us would sneak off to talk about at family gatherings, or over the phone in between visits home. My grandmother passed away recently, but after re-watching this film, I felt a great comfort in realizing as long as these classics are around, we'll always be connected. [GoWatchIt] —Terri Ciccone

Somm

I streamed the wino documentary Somm last night. It follows four sommeliers as they prepare for the Master Sommelier exam — one of the hardest tests in the world. You don't really learn that much about wine, unfortunately. What you do learn is that sommeliers are crazy. It's apparently normal to describe a wine as tasting like a "freshly cut garden hose" and one somm actually said that she licks rocks so that she knows more about "earthy" flavors. The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training

With the arrival of fall comes the end of baseball's regular season—always a sad time for me. For some reason The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training popped into my head. This sequel to The Bad News Bears may not have garnered the acclaim that its predecessor did, but it DID have a fly orange conversion van, a thrilling inside-the-park homer at the Astrodome, and the classic 'Let them play! Let them play!' chant that has stood the test of time (not to mention some seriously politically incorrect language). Play ball, you cruddy pitcher (and check out other streaming baseball movies, too). [GoWatchIt] —Conrad Doucette

New Girl

After Season Three was released on Netflix, I realized I've never seen a full episode of the FOX sitcom that every twenty-something girl I know completely loses their shit over. So, I went back to Season One and I'm pained to admit I'm charmed. It's damn cute. I could take or leave Zooey Deschanel but she's growing on me. This is a show I can definitely see myself binging this weekend. [Watch on Netflix] —Olivia Armstrong

The Big Chill

I couldn't even tell you how many times I've watched The Big Chill in my time, but do know that it's a lot. I don't know what about the movie makes it the perfect cinematic comfort food for me; I guess I just really loved self-absorbed baby boomers talking about themselves and listening to Motown? Or maybe I just like a good old fashioned ensemble picture (and The Big Chill is the definitive ensemble picture). I don't like to think too hard about why I like it, I just know that I do. Lost

I never watched Lost because I feared becoming obsessed with the show, like everyone else. I finally streamed the pilot episode this week and it definitely wasn't half bad. The first episode has all the goodies: a crashed plane on a beautiful island, a ton of good looking survivors, a pregnant chick, and a hot leader with a basic name: Jack. Having already heard how awful the ending was, I probably won't invest too much more time into the show, but I am enjoying it so far! —Jaclyn Kessel
