The actor and Red Sox diehard staged a coup on the set of "Gone Girl" when he was asked to wear a Yankees hat for a scene at a New York airport in the David Fincher-directed thriller.

"I said, 'David, I love you, I would do anything for you, but I will not wear a Yankees hat,'" Affleck told The New York Times. "'I just can't. I can't wear it because it's going to become a thing, David. I will never hear the end of it. I can't do it.' … It was a one-man riot against the Yankees."

With production on pause because of Affleck's Rivalry allegiances, they found a solution that was "very Switzerland," according to the Massachusetts-raised star: a Mets hat.

Too bad superstition hasn't worked for Affleck's Sox: The team is 0-15 on his birthday (Aug. 15) — including an extra-inning setback this year — since the release of the Beantown-based classic "Good Will Hunting."
