Rob Lowe still sexy after surfing accident

Rob Lowe suffered an unexpected gash on his leg on Sunday. The 50-year-old former "West Wing" star injured his right knee while surfing.

He tweeted a picture of the damage with the caption "So sharky!"

Despite blood gushing from his knee to his foot, Lowe kept a smile on his face, while holding his surfboard.

In a subsequent tweet, Lowe said, "The amount of blood that can unwantedly come out of one's body is amazing."

He also Instagrammed a shot of his knee under surgery. "My day so far," read the image caption of a doctor stitching up the wound. "I will live. #SurfStitches."

Lowe is an avid surfer and thrill seeker. In an at-home interview with OWN, Lowe's son, John Owen, called him a "kid at heart."

"He is a 15-year-old, 16-year-old, 17-year-old trapped in an adult's body," Lowe's son joked before hitting the ocean with brother and dad.
