The Belchers: Bob, Linda, Tina, Gene, and Louise live above their burger joint, Bob's Burgers, on the Jersey Shore. Being stationed right across the street from Jimmy Pesto's, the best restaurant in town, is tough, but running the family business as a unit is tougher.
Bob (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) are your average blue collar couple raising three eccentric kids. Their oldest, Tina (Dan Mintz), is constantly preoccupied with unicorns and zombies, friend fiction, Jimmy Pesto Jr., and her newly formed boobs while Gene (Eugene Mirman), the dim-witted middle child, can be found sporting wearable buns to support the family biz. Louise (Kristen Schaal), the youngest and feistiest, is always planning her next prank and never seen without her ears.
Since its debut in 2011, Bob's Burgers has been compared to the Simpsons in its wit and awkward Tina has been praised as one of the best characters on TV right now with her unabashed love of mens butts and her very open chronicling about the difficulties of blossoming into a woman. After a bit of an uneven start in its first season, the show has become an instant classic and we've picked out the very best episodes available to stream.
1
"Bad Tina" Season 2, Episode 8
Tina is assigned to show the new girl, Tammy, around school. Tammy brings out the rebellious side of Tina and gets her hands on Tina's precious Erotic Friend Fiction, which repeatedly mentions Jimmy Jr. and his butt. Meanwhile, Bob and Linda go to see a hand-clapping Broadway show, Cake, which Bob thought he'd loath, but afterwards, he can't stop Cake-ing.
MVP Moment: While reading her Erotic Friend Fiction to the whole cafeteria Tina proses, "It was lunch time… Touching butts had been banned by the horrible Master Frond. Suddenly, Tina Belcher appeared in the doorway. She knew what to do. She grabbed Jimmy Jr.'s butt and saved the world.
2
"Seaplane!" Season 4, Episode 3
After Bob refuses to take couples flying lessons with Linda, she defiantly goes by herself. Little does Linda know her flight instructor Kurt (voiced by Will Forte), is known as a notorious seducer of housewives, nicknamed "Upskirt Kurt." He fakes a plane crash on a remote island where him and Linda can be alone. Even though Linda refuses Kurt's advances, the plane has been pulled out by the tide, leaving them truly stranded on the island.
MVP MOMENT: When Tina mishears Quippiqassett as "Quickie Kissit," and decides it's a magical land "where the currency is kisses and everyone is rich."
3
"Spaghetti Westerns and Meatballs" Season 1, Episode 4
Louise's bonding time with her dad gets interrupted when Bob and Gene become equally obsessed with the Spaghetti Western, Banjo, in which the hero saves the day by shooting bullets out of his banjo. Meanwhile Tina is getting in touch with her extra-sensitive side during a conflict resolution "ABS" seminar coordinated by Mr. Frond. In case you were wondering ABS is an acronym for Access your feelings, Be apologetic, and Slap it!
MVP MOMENT: When Gene finally stands up to his school "bully."
Gene: "Hey dad, guess what? I acted like Banjo and took Choo-Choo down. Everyone laughed!"
Louise: "Well, one kid laughed. Peter Pescadero. He has a learning disability."
4
"The Kids Rob a Train" Season 4, Episode 15
Robbery, chocolate, and a magnificent performance by Rudy: "The Kids Rob a Train" is one of more warped episodes of the series, like the writer's were on a sugar high themselves. It's a tale of agist triumph when the kids are banned to the caboose while the parents have a sophisticated wine tasting in the front car.
MVP MOMENT: When questioned if it's actually her birthday, Linda retorts in the driest, most sarcastic tone: "It's my birthday."
5
"Bob Day Afternoon" Season 2, Episode 2
Amateur criminal, Mickey (voiced by Bill Hader), takes a liking to Bob while robbing the local bank where Bob is having no luck getting approved for refinancing. He ends up holding Bob and guidance counselor, Mr. Frond, hostage before forcing everyone at gunpoint to sneak over to Bob's Burgers for a pre-jail meal. During the whole fiasco, Louise busies herself by interviewing Mickey for a school report.
MVP MOMENT: Louise chases Mickey through the crowd, begging him for answers to her most pressing questions.
Louise: "Mickey! What advice would you give young people. Who's your hero? What's your favorite pig out food?" Mikey: "Stay in school, Superman, potato chips if I'm sad, chocolate if I'm bad."
6
"Tina-Rannosaurus Wrecks" Season 3, Episode 7
Bob attempts to teach Tina how to drive in the vast empty parking lot of the restaurant supply store. Tina somehow hits the only parked car in the lot, which turns out to be Jimmy Pesto's car. Keeping the rivalry going, Jimmy Pesto makes Bob go through his insurance agency to pay for the damages, landing them with a crooked agent. Bob takes the blame for hitting Jimmy's car and makes Tina promise not to tell anyone she was driving.
MVP MOMENT: When picturing her life in hell, Tina steps up to the lunch line.
Tina: "What's for lunch today?"
Hell Lunch Lady: "Your lies!"
Tina: "No! We had that yesterday!"
7
"Sacred Cow" Season 1, Episode 3
Randy (Paul F. Tompkins), a controversial food documentarian comes to the seaside community and targets Bob's Burgers as a hellish place that serves dead animals to its customers. Tina takes a liking to Moo-lissa, the guilt-trip cow Randy has parked in front of the restaurant and believes Moo-lissa is trying to speak to her through different shaped poops.
MVP MOMENT: Linda also takes a liking to Moo-lissa after helping Bob grind up hamburger meat. "Oh, a cow! Hi, blondie! Oops, I got some meat on ya. Ha! Dead cow on live cow. Gross!"
8
"Crawl Space" Season 1, Episode 2
Linda's parents are visiting and Bob tries to avoid them by hiding in the attic crawl space. Only problem is, he ends up getting stuck and is forced to make friends with Louise's Kuchi Kopi nightlight and listen to his in-laws do it on the other side of the wall. Tina is dealing with a bad case of wet dream nightmares.
MVP MOMENT: When Tina shares her nightmarish experiences with Bob over breakfast.
Tina: "I think my subconscious fears and budding sexuality are getting all mixed up. So I think I'm being attacked by zombies and I start screaming, 'Do you wanna make out?' And I make out with it."
9
"Fort Night" Season 4, Episode 2
This high-concept Halloween episode takes place almost entire in a cardboard box. The kids are feeling rebellious and instead of trick-or-treating, they decide to build a fort in an alley. A delivery truck backs up and closes the kids in for the night. Millie (voiced by Molly Shannon), Louise's psychotic classmate just happens to be walking by and offers to help, but Louise of course, can't contain herself and lashes out at her, causing Millie to run away and leave them stranded.
MVP MOMENT: Molly Shannon always delivers, but this episode is truly MVP Millie. Shannon is pure gold.
10
"Mother Daughter Laser Razor" Season 3, Episode 10
Linda and Louise don't always get along. After telling Linda she ruins everything, Louise is banished to her room and Linda is upset she's not the fun parent. After consulting a mommy blog, Linda forces Louise to come with her to a Mother-Daughter seminar at the Nurture Center. The kids rebel and lock the moms in a closet and go next door to the laser tag arena. Linda and the rest of the moms break free, suit up, and a laser war begins.
MVP MOMENT: Tina scrambles to hide her leg hair from the popular girls at school and goes to Linda for help.
Linda: "Awww my teeny Tina is growing up with her little leg hairs. Just shave up to the knee. Only strippers shave above the knee. Good ones anyway."
