Didi Gregorius apparently will get the first shot at being the man to replace Derek Jeter.
A three-way deal among the Yankees, Diamondbacks and Tigers was completed pending physicals, according to an executive involved in the trade.
The Yankees would receive Gregorius from Arizona and send Shane Greene to Detroit. The Diamondbacks would get two young players, including Robbie Ray from the Tigers.

"I think I've been more involved with trade options — multiple, different trade options — than I have had these type of conversations in the past. I don't know if it's more likely or not, but I think teams are definitely willing to take risks in the trade market than they have in the past,'' GM Brian Cashman said Thursday morning about the trade market in general.
Gregorius is a player who has long interested the Yankees. He is viewed as a strong fielder with questions about his bat. But he doesn't turn 25 until February and his lefty swing might be more conducive to Yankee Stadium. In his first game and at-bat for Arizona, on April 18, 2013, Gregorius homered off Phil Hughes at the Stadium.
In 80 games last year for Arizona, Gregorius hit .226 with a .653 OPS and six homers. He is arbitration eligible after the 2015 season after making $506,500 this past season. With Chris Owings, Nick Ahmed and Cliff Pennington, Arizona had depth at shortstop from which to trade.
Greene emerged last year for the Yankees, throwing his heavy sinker and slider to go 5-4 with a 3.78 ERA.
The Yankees, Diamondbacks and Arizona previously completed a three-way deal on Dec. 8, 2009. The Yankees obtained Curtis Granderson, Detroit got Max Scherzer, Austin Jackson, Phil Coke and Daniel Schlereth, and Arizona received Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy.
