Meet Albert Girther — a 70-year-old lobster who weighs nearly 12 pounds and totally looks like a facehugger from "Alien."
Forrest Galante, 26, was searching for an underwater meal near Anacapa Island when he stumbled upon the colossal crustacean.
"I've been doing this for ten years and I've never seen a lobster as big as Albert Girther," he told Barcroft Media. "I mean any lobster that can bear hug a man must be pretty huge and he had no problem with that."
The avid free-diver was so impressed with the Pacific Spiny Lobster that he decided to give the cockroach of the sea a stay of execution.
"I've got to say it was very tempting to take him home and eat him – he had pounds and pounds of delicious meat," he said. "He was clearly a good breeder, so my family and I decided that we had to put him back into the water so he could have more children."
Galante brought the ancient invertebrate to the Ty Warner Sea Center to fatten him up and get him rested up before returning him to a marine reserve off the California coast.
