Oprah Winfrey, who stars in the upcoming civil rights historical drama "Selma," says it's "wonderful" to see the country unite in the ongoing protests in the wake of Eric Garner and Michael Brown's deaths.
But for the television legend, 60, something more should emerge from the marches.
"What I'm looking for is some kind of leadership to come out of this to say, 'This is what we want. This is what has to change, and these are the steps that we need to take to make these changes, and this is what we're willing to do to get it,'" she explained to People.
Winfrey's co-star who plays Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., David Oyelowo, echoed that sentiment.

"What I think is so divine and beautiful about 'Selma' coming out at this time is A, it shows this isn't new. We've had this before. And there are very direct parallels," said the 38-year-old rising superstar. "And you saw that in the way black and white, young and old, came together to say, 'This is not OK.'"
After sharing that she lives her life with intention, Winfrey says, "I think what can be gleaned from our film is to take note of the strategic, peaceful intention required when you want real change."
"That's what 'Selma' is all about, the strategy," the OWN creator added. "The marches just didn't happen and they weren't happening haphazardly. They were happening out of an order and a design for change."
