Bruce Jenner told officials there was no way he could have avoided the fatal crash he was involved in last weekend, blaming the collision on the Lexus driver who he said slammed on her breaks without warning, according to TMZ.
Jenner's dark blue Cadillac Escalade rear-ended the white Lexus in Malibu last Saturday, killing the woman inside.
Authorities were still trying to determine why the Lexus driver stopped short.
The victim, Kim Howe,69, of nearby Calabasas, was driving with an expired driver's license, according to ABC7.com.
DMV records show her license had expired in 2007.
Following the collision, her Lexus spun into oncoming traffic and smashed head on into a black hummer carryign a 1-month-old baby, two other children, and two adults inside.

They all suffered minor injuries.
The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" reality-TV dad told officials there was no way he could have avoided the accident, according to TMZ.
He was allegedly spotted in a gray-and-red Porsche less than 24 hours later going 56 mph in a 50-mph zone.
A snapshot captured the rate-of-speed along the Pacific Coast Highway.
He was also seen talking on his cellphone while driving in a Ford Fiesta in Thousand Oaks. Calif., Tuesday.
Police are scouring through Jenner's cellphone records to see if he was texting or using his phone at the time of the fatal crash.
The gender-bending former Olympic hero wasn't injured in the accident.
Filming for the Kardashians' show was put on hold last week while Jenner handled the accident.
A source close to Jenner told Radar Online his interview with Diane Sawyer and filming of his docu-series would continue, but there would be a delay following the aftermath of the fatal crash.
