Four more staffers at a Medicaid-funded not-for-profit drug empire were busted Wednesday for allegedly helping loot millions of dollars from the drug treatment program and defrauding the government, authorities said.
Among the Narco Freedom employees being charged are CEO Gerald Bethea and controller Richard Gross, sources said.
The case is being prosecuted by state Attorney General Eric Scheiderman.
The charges are connected to the indictment filed last fall against hot shot former CEO Alan Brand and his son, Jason.
The Brands — big contributors to political campaigns — were accused of falsely filing a fraudulent $3.5 million insurance claim to rebuild a Narco Freedom treatment facility in Brooklyn, among other scams.
The Brands were charged with using the ill-gotten proceeds from various scams to support their luxurious lifestyles. They owned a fleet of flashy cars that includes a Jaguar , an $80,000 and a 1969 corvette, which were seized by prosecutors.
Narco Freedom receives $40 million annually in Medicaid funds.
