With Tim Hardaway Jr. (wrist) and rookie Cleanthony Early (knee) hurting, the Knicks finally made use of their open roster spot and signed former Mavericks guard Ricky Ledo to a 10-day contract.
The 6-foot-7, 195-pound former Providence recruit was playing in the D-League with the Texas Legends, averaging 15.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Ledo, 22, was projected in some circles as a late-first-round pick in the 2013 draft, but was deemed too much of a risk after sitting out his lone season at Providence due to academic ineligibility. Not having played a minute of college ball, he dropped to No. 43, where the Bucks snagged him. He was traded to Dallas, where he played for two seasons, appearing in just 16 games as he shuttled back and forth from the D-League.
Phil Jackson has an affinity for big guards in his triangle offense, and the recent deadline trade for Alexey Shved has worked out well.
Ledo participated in the morning shootaround and will be available for action Thursday night when the Knicks host the Timberwolves.
The Knicks have had an open roster spot since buying out Amar'e Stoudemire in a maneuver The Post reported saved owner James Dolan $6.5M in payroll and luxury tax. Ironically, the Mavericks waived Ledo to make room for Stoudemire.
