Woman shot in head at NYC motel after argument

A woman was shot in the head inside a Staten Island motel, cops said.

The victim was with her boyfriend inside a room at the Cosmopolitan Motel on Hylan Boulevard when she answered a knock at the door around 3:30 a.m. in Old Town, police said.

Her boyfriend eventually came out of the bathroom and started to argue with the man before things got violent, cops said.

The man's friend allegedly shot her in the head from outside the motel room and the men fled in a black SUV, sources said.

The woman was rushed by EMS to Staten Island University North Hospital where she is listed in critical condition, authorities said.

Investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what happened because there are conflicting reports and the boyfriend is being uncooperative with authorities, police said.

Police sources said they are investigating whether the couple was involved in possibly an illegal drug sale or other illegal activities prior to the shooting.
