Maybe he should have called dad for an interview.
The son of a man arrested in connection to the decade-long kidnapping of three Cleveland women, was once an aspiring journalist who penned a newspaper story about one of the snatchings, according to broadcast reports.
Ariel "Anthony" Castro wrote a 2004 piece for the Plain Press weekly newspaper about the kidnapping of Gina DeJesus, then 14, according to WKYC-TV.
The younger Castro wrote how residents of the west Cleveland neighborhood, where DeJesus lived, were shaken by her disappearance.
Anthony Castro went under the byline "Ariel Castro." He was a journalism student at Bowling Green State University when he wrote the Plain Press article.
Anthony Castro is the son of suspected kidnapper Ariel Castro.
Castro even quoted DeJesus' mom, Nancy Ruiz, and chronicled the massive community efforts to find Gina.
"People are really looking for my daughter," Ruiz was quoted as saying in Castro's piece.
The writer added: "On Cleveland's west side, it is difficult to go any length of time without seeing Gina's picture on telephone poles, in windows, or on cars along the busy streets."
WKYC reported that Plain Press editor Chuck Hoven confirmed that Castro was a college student at the time and was writing the story for a class assignment.
Bowling Green told The Post Castro graduated with a degree in print journalism in 2004. According to his LinkedIn page, he currently works as a customer service rep for The Arlington Bank in Columbus Ohio.
