22-year-old woman reportedly raped in East Village

A woman reported a terrifying rape on the East Village on Monday morning.

The 22-year-old victim told cops a stranger followed her into her building on East Seventh Street around 5 a.m., then forced his way into her apartment and attacked her.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital. The suspect fled. He is believed to be in his 30s.

Police are interviewing neighbors and scouring the neighborhood for any video surveillance that may have captured the attacker.
