Jill Soloway's breathtakingly beautiful new series, Transparent, is about to become Amazon's first big hit. The show's pilot received rave reviews when it debuted last spring, and today you can stream the entire first season on Amazon Prime Instant Video. Get ready to meet and fall in love with the Pfefferman clan — a family that will either be torn apart or brought back to together by the revelation that their father is transgender.
In the last episode, all the kids promised to go to Maura's (Jeffrey Tambor) big talent show and Ali (Gaby Hoffmann) was cozying up to a trans man named Dale (Ian Harvie). Josh (Jay Duplass) started flirting with Raquel the female Rabbi (Kathryn Hahn) and Tammy (Melora Hardin) said she wouldn't renovate the Pfefferman family house.
Are Things Weird Between The Kids And Maura?
While they all claim to be supportive, all three of the Pfefferman siblings have been exhibiting behavior that suggests that they are not okay with Maura's transition. Sarah (Amy Landecker) is smoking very strong medicinal pot, Josh is having sexual performance issues with Rabbi Raquel, and Ali changes herself into a "high femme" to attract the trans guy, Dale, she met last week.
Oh, So Ali Is Actually Dating Dale?
Yep. In fact, Ali goes out of her way to change everything about herself to sexually please him. She wears a tight corset, high-heeled boots, and even lets him shave her pubic hair off. At the end of the episode, it becomes apparent that the two are not compatible and Dale accuses her of only chasing him because he's trans. When Ali returns to Dale's place, it's been transformed from a rustic cabin to modern home.
Is Josh Still Flirting With Rabbi Raquel?
We see Josh and Rabbi Raquel on a cute dinner date. However, Josh has performance issues. Raquel thinks that it has to do with her job, but Josh is blaming it on his confusion with his father.
How Was Maura's Talent Show?
For the past few episodes, Maura has been feverishly asking the kids to come to the Trans Got Talent show at her LGBT center. They all do show up, but none of them last through Maura's duet with Davina. Ali's date tries to have sex with her and a slippery dildo in the bathroom and Josh can't bear the performance. Sarah, who is both high and drunk, chases after Josh. Maura is devastated when she realizes that all three of her children left during her performance. She goes to Shelly for support.
Did Tammy Actually Keep Her Word Not To Change The House?
Tammy totally broke her promise to Josh and renovated the house. The move not only represented how much Tammy has taken hold of Sarah, but it also means that the house loses some of its architectural cache. After an already upset Josh sees the debris in Tammy's truck, he storms off to the house where he gets high with Bianca. As far as we know nothing actually happened, but Tammy is furious that she found them together in the pool.
