For a solid 25 years, NBC ruled over Thursday nights and reigned over sitcoms with their "Must See TV" line ups. Between 1982 and 2006, NBC's 8pm-10pm Thursday night schedule boasts such classic sitcoms as The Cosby Show, Cheers, Seinfeld, Friends, and The Office, as well as lesser known outliers like Veronica's Closet, The Single Guy, and Boston Common.
Nobody does comedy like NBC used to, but thanks to streaming, you can catch a classic night of NBC Must See TV comedy any Thursday you want.
Enter Decider's Must See #TBT. Every Thursday, we'll focus on a specific time period (or theme) and deliver a custom Must See TV line up.
This week, we're paying homage to the Big Apple: New York City. Many of NBC's most-beloved sitcoms were deeply rooted in New York City culture. The Huxtables lived in a Brooklyn brownstone, the cast of Friends hung out at Central Perk and 30 Rock takes place at, um, 30 Rock. So, we've assembled an all-NYC NBC sitcom lineup.
The Cosby Show
Season 2, Episode 22: "Theo's Holiday"
Original Air Date: April 3, 1986
Dr. Huxtable wants to give young and cocky Theo a taste of the "real world," so the entire family transforms their homey Brooklyn brownstone into the "Real World Apartments." This real world includes Bill Cosby vamping as a hard-boiled landlord.

Friends
Season 1, Episode 5: "The One with the East German Laundry Detergent"
Original Air Date: October 20, 1994
Believe it or not, but Friends actually did try to accurately depict NYC life in its earlier seasons. Case in point: "The One with the East German Laundry Detergent." When Rachel reveals that she's never done her own laundry, Ross takes her to the one New York hot spot no one wishes they had to go to: the laundromat. The one problem? He thinks it's their first date.

Seinfeld
Season 6, Episode 13: "The Scofflaw"
Original Air Date: January 26, 1995
Even though Seinfeld was filmed in Los Angeles, its setting and its tone were rooted in all things New York. There are a myriad of amusing subplots in this episode, and one of them features Kramer on the hunt for a litterbug he refers to as a "scofflaw" and Kramer cries indignantly that "This is MY town! You don't throw litter in my town!" Damn straight, Kramer.

30 Rock
Season 1, Episode 1: "Pilot"
Original Air Date: October 11, 2006
While most NBC shows in the '00s moved away from New York City, 30 Rock nestled itself right in the heart of midtown. The show is a tongue-in-cheek love letter to New York City's crazy media world and the pilot takes us from Midtown to Harlem and was shot at Silvercup Studios in Queens.
