After almost 20 years of New York fashion weeks, Elle Editor-in-Chief Robbie Myers could have easily become jaded. "I've surely spent ten thousand hours looking at fashion, and it's still thrilling to see something that's going to push us in a different direction," says Myers, an Upper West Sider.
Though she could go on and on about favorite designers (Calvin Klein, Joseph Altuzarra), she points out that there are a lot of new designers she's excited to see at NYFW.
At the top of her list? Public School.
Here is Myers' very fashionable New York.
Spring Studios, 50 Varick St., between Laight and Beach streets

"I really like Spring Studios, once you're actually in the space — getting in and out of a crowded show can be a bit, um, challenging. I love seeing a show of a designer who has always shown somewhere else in that huge space — it gives you a totally different perspective on the designer's point of view. There's something very modern and open about the studio; the ceilings are really high, which creates drama. Calvin Klein was the first to show there, for Francisco Costa's 10th anniversary collection last September. Calvin also held their fall show there in February — it was brutal outside, but all of Francisco's gorgeous knits and wovens were exactly what you wanted to see at that moment."
Reviver, 934 Eighth Ave., between West 55th and West 56th streets

"New York is actually the kickoff to a month of fashion shows, which means a few weeks spent on planes as my team and I travel to London, Milan and Paris. I try to at least start out with a little fortification from lunch at Reviver on Eighth Avenue. Try the Mahi tacos. The food is delicious, but also so perfectly nutritionally calibrated that you feel like Popeye after he's eaten a can of spinach."
The Lobby Lounge at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 80 Columbus Circle
"It's one of my favorite places to sneak in an early drink, interview or meeting, and it's right between Lincoln Center and my office. I've been there with everyone from Roger Vivier's genius creative director Bruno Frisoni to our upcoming cover girl Zoe Saldana to Beats CMO Omar Johnson. One thing I will say — when Zoe enters a room, there is a moment of silence. Go when the sun is starting to set and nighttime New York is beginning to sparkle. It's a terribly romantic ideal of the city, like watching Woody Allen's 'Manhattan.' My cocktail choice: vodka cranberry."
Blondi's Hair Salon, 2742 Broadway

"For blowouts, I go to Effy at Blondi's in my neighborhood at 105th and Broadway. He's this gorgeous Israeli who has great stories and is super nice and fast."
Il Cantori, 32 E. 10th St., between University Place and Broadway
"I've assigned myself exactly one story in my career as an EIC, and that was to interview the cast of 'The Sopranos' right after the first season, in 1999. I found myself reflecting on this last summer when I heard of James Gandolfini's death. We went to one of my favorite restaurants in New York — Il Cantinori — and took over a huge table in the back room. I seated myself between Gandolfini and the show's creator David Chase, who was so smart and introspective. It was hilarious and bawdy and fun. I also used to see Richard Gere at Il Cantinori a lot, doing his best to avoid eye contact with all the women who couldn't stop staring at him."
