A high school kid in Suffolk County was arrested for threatening to go on a shooting rampage and blow up his high school on social media, cops said.
The 15-year-old freshman at Mt. Sinai High School made the threats on a cellphone app called Yik Yak, which creates chat rooms for anonymous users within a certain radius, law enforcement said.
The teen posted that there would be a shooting at the school and that he would blow the building up on Tuesday September 16th, according to authorities.
Students and parents notified school authorities and police about the messages.
Detectives tracked down the boy who was arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat, he is due in family court Tuesday, cops said.
Suffolk County police have school resource officers appointed to the school for the day, cops said.
