1 dead after motor boat capsizes off Staten Island

A person was killed and another injured when a motor boat capsized in the waters of Staten Island on Tuesday morning, the Coast Guard said.

The FDNY and Coast Guard rescued a second boater from Raritan Bay around 10:30 a.m.

Both victims were given CPR, and taken to Staten Island University South — where one was dead on arrival, according to the FDNY.

The Coast Guard responded to a "mayday call" about a sinking boat and launched a search and rescue mission from Sandy Hook, NJ.

They met up with an FDNY vessel at the scene and found a 15 to 18-foot power boat partially submerged in the water, along with the two boaters.

The second boater's condition is unknown at this time.
