Bizarre new video footage reveals the moment a mysterious prankster emerged from a sidewalk grate — surfacing in a cloud of smoke — to toss a road flare into a trendy restaurant in the Village.
The footage, which looks plucked from the Stephen King caper "It," shows a 20-something man climbing out of the bowels of the city before tossing a flare at the trendy sidewalk eatery Da Silvano on Sixth Avenue near Bleecker Street at 6 p.m. on Friday.
A giant puff of smoke engulfs the restaurant, causing customers to scatter and the gutter monster then disappears back underground.
"I saw him come out — it was like Ninja Turtles," said Anthony Curko, 32, manager at the celebrity hotspot told The Post on Friday.
"The customers stood up. They were nervous and scared. They said the smoke was burning their eyes."
The chaos even disturbed "Charmed" actress Rose McGowan, who tweeted about it moments after the attack.
"Someone just threw two red smoke bombs into the restaurant I was eating in. Eyes are burning. #NYCWHAT," she tweeted.
The prankster is roughly 20 years old with blonde wavy hair and was last seen wearing black gloves and a baseball cap, police sources said.
Anyone information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
