Call it an A-Nod.
Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez confirmed in government testimony he took Biogenesis-supplied performance-enhancing drugs over a period from 2010 to 2012, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
Rodriguez's account, given to DEA agents in January, validate many of the details presented by Biogenesis dealer Anthony Bosch in the course of litigation and MLB hearings that eventually resulted in a season-long ban for Rodriguez, which ended after the World Series last week.
In public, throughout his protracted legal battles and lengthy ban, Rodriguez has denied using the drugs.
But Rodriguez testified last winter he used human growth hormone and testosterone, according to the report. The relationship with Bosch was brokered and maintained by the infamous "Cousin" Yuri Sucart, who is now — along with Bosch — the subject of federal prosecution on drug charges. After Rodriguez's falling-out with Sucart in early 2012, he continued to get PEDs from Bosch, who also drew blood from Rodriguez — once in the bathroom of a Miami nightclub — to monitor hormone levels.
Rodriguez has returned to the Yankees roster, though his ability to play at age 39 following the layoff is the biggest question facing the team as it retools for next spring. Not to mention his reputation in the sport as a now twice-admitted doper.
