Meet Pakistan's fearless female police commandos — a tough-as-nails group of gals that's armed and ready to take on terrorism.

The Pakistani army has been waging war against longstanding Taliban forces and other militants along the Afghan border for the last six months, Agence France Presse reports.

But a series of fresh military strikes following the Dec. 16 terrorist attack on a public school in the city of Peshawar suggests the women warriors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province could soon be sent to the front lines.

"No one should be under the illusion that the KP women are unable to fight alongside their male counterparts," officer Safia Naz told Central Asia Online. "We want to send a message to the terrorists that Pashtuns are ready to take them on as they want peace in their motherland."

Saida, a police officer in Abbottabad, also believes the first-of-its-kind anti-terror squad is more than ready to prove their fighting ability.

"The women of KP can be soldiers as good as those of any nation of the world," she said. "I always knew it was my mission to go into the field and fight insurgents physically. I am willing to pay any price to rid my country of terrorism."

Saida and 35 others began commando training in November at a police center in Nowshera, according to Central Asia Online.

The entire squad is made up of women who completed their training and then volunteered to be integrated into main combat. Once implemented into the team, the girls will carry out counter-terrorism operations in the field.

"The elite all-woman force will go a long way in rooting out terrorism," said KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. "The presence of female commandos would be of great help in defeating the terrorists."

Last week's vicious terror strike in Peshawar left 149 people dead — most of them children, according to AFP.

While the horrifying ordeal unfolded, army chief General Raheal Sharif called for the Taliban's "final elimination" — adding that the attack had re-ignited the army's determination to eliminate the militants.
