You'll be forgiven if you can't quite remember who has a late-night talk show these days. So many hosts have come and gone over the past few months, it's sometimes difficult to keep track of who's still on the air and who's retired, now telling Monica Lewinsky jokes in their own basement.
One person definitely on TV is James Corden, the British actor who took over hosting duties for CBS's "The Late Late Show" on Monday night.
In the show's opening monologue, Corden said that his aim would be to make audiences smile as they fall asleep.

Jay Leno stakes his claim
Corden rolled a pretaped bit making fun of the fact that no one in America has any idea who he is. In it, CBS holds a Willy Wonka-esque contest to choose its next late-night host. Look for cameos by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chris Rock and Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne. The best bit: Jay Leno, now free of NBC's clutches, cracking, "In three months, this show will be mine."
James Corden and Tom Hanks re-enact his film career
Corden and guest Tom Hanks, with the help of a shoddy green screen and some quick costume changes, ran through almost the entirely of Hanks' filmography in a manic, nearly-seven-minutes-long comedy piece. This is clearly Corden's nod to the power of the Internet and the need for late-night shows to produce viral clips to remain relevant. You gotta love how even Hanks admits "Cloud Atlas" pretty much made no sense.
Hanks explains that 'manspreading' incident
Another watercooler moment is when Hanks explained his infamous "manspreading" photo that circulated online a while back. In the photo, Hanks can be seen taking up two seats on the New York subway. Watch as the movie star gives a convincing rationale for his seat-hogging. What's less convincing is Hanks claiming he rides the subway all the time — then says the photo was from the 2 train. Not to nitpick, Tom, but the 2 train doesn't usually have that kind of seat configuration.
