If you think your honeymoon is a guaranteed sex-fest, think again. "I've had couples who are disappointed with their honeymoon sex because they had very different expectations for the trip," says couples psychotherapist and sex therapist Sari Cooper. So, though it may not sound very sexy, the surest way to spice up your honeymoon is to plan it to be that way.
"While one person may want to spend most of their time catching up on sleep and touring — and maybe have sex one night — the other may want to have sex every night," explains Cooper. "It's important to compromise on your expectations so there aren't major resentments and arguing on your first trip out as a married couple."
Once you're on the same page, prepare for hot sex with a special packing list. "A couple could bring along an intro to Tantra book or movie, as well as sex toys they've never tried, and perhaps some outfits in order to play out a fantasy they've discussed before," says Cooper. If that's too wild for you, take it down a sexy notch with erotic lingerie, a skimpy bathing suit or "costumes that could inspire a scene playing with power."
Finally, make sure you enjoy the moment and stay on the same page as your new spouse. Kick off your marriage on the right foot by being open and honest about what you want out of your sex life — starting with the honeymoon.
